Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters Museum

Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters Museum is a Virginia and National Historic Landmark. The house was built in 1854 by William McP. Fuller, and was used as the headquarters for General “Stonewall” Thomas Jackson over the course of the winter of 1861-1862. Fuller sold the house to Lt. Col. Lewis T. Moore, who allowed Jackson to use the home as his headquarters during the Civil War. Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters Museum is a perfect place for Civil War buffs to visit.

George Washington Office Museum

The George Washington Office Museum was a military office for George Washington from Sept. 1755 to Dec.1756 while Fort Loudoun was being built. Washington used a small building made of logs as the office, and the building is now used as the middle room of the museum. The exhibit being featured currently is entitled “George Washington and the West.” The display shows off some of Washington’s personal effects, equipment and a scale model of Winchester, VA in 1755. This is a great chance to learn more about our country’s first president.
