EPA Estimate: 30-city/32-highway/31-combined MPG

The 2020 Buick Encore GX is a lovely surprise, featuring a 137-horse 1.2-liter turbo-three on FWD models and a 155-horse 1.3-liter turbo-three on AWD ones. FWD models have a CVT, while AWD models have a nine-speed automatic. The Buick Encore GX is the only model on this list to have AWD available.

3. 2020 Hyundai Venue

EPA Estimate: 30-city/34-highway/32-combined MPG

The Hyundai Venue is the only vehicle on the list to feature a manual transmission variant. The standard powertrain is a 121-horsepower 1.6-liter four-cylinder with a six-speed manual and FWD. If you don’t like driving stick, a CVT is available. As with the other top vehicles on the list, the Venue only has FWD.

2. 2020 Lexus UX 200

EPA Estimate: 29-city/37-highway/33-combined MPG

The Lexus UX 200 is powered by a 169-horse 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a CVT. Unfortunately, only the hybrid variant has AWD, though the FWD is perfectly capable on most standard driving terrain. However, the posh cabin makes it hard to complain.

The Nissan Kicks tops the list with its 122-horsepower 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and CVT. It’s great on for buzzing around city, but the FWD-only drivetrain may turn off some potential buyers that need to navigate more treacherous terrain.
