2004-2014 Ford F-150

The F-150 is the most popular truck ever. There have been more than 40 million individual trucks produced, making it the second most produced vehicle of all time (surpassed only by the Toyota Corolla). This large supply means that prices are relatively low and there are plenty of F-150 models to choose from. It also means repairs, maintenance, and parts are cheap too. The 11th and 12th generations are some of the best used pickups available.

Midsize:

1995-2015 Toyota Tacoma

The Tacoma is known for being basically indestructible, and the fact that a 25-year-old 1995 Tacoma with 250,000+ miles on it can command a five-figure price tag is a testament to that fact. Not only that, but the Tacoma has options abound, with both 4-banger and V6 engines, manual or automatic transmissions, and 2-door standard cabs or 4-door crew cabs. No matter which you choose, you can be sure that it will hold its value.

Heavy-Duty:

2005-2010 Ford F-250

Some people need a truck specifically designed to haul heavy stuff. The Ford F-250 will do that. It’s available in both gasoline and diesel V8 versions, usually paired with a 4×4 drivetrain. If you need to haul upwards of 10,000lbs without breaking the bank, the F-250 is a great choice.

Super Affordable:

2009-2015 Nissan Frontier

Sometimes you just want the cheapest, most reliable truck you can get. Well, the Frontier fits that bill. Its low prices are due to its large production number but low sales numbers. It’s not super luxurious, but it’ll do the job without and it’ll last you a long while.

Honorable Mention:

2006-2014 Honda Ridgeline

It’s a light-duty truck with the utility of an SUV and the drivability of a sedan. It won’t be doing a lot of off-roading anytime soon, but it’ll haul your tools more comfortably than most trucks.
