Is driving for Uber Eats or DoorDash a good idea?
Is Being a Delivery Driver for Uber Eats / DoorDash a Good Plan?
If you’re looking for an easy to make some quick cash, then driving for services like Uber Eats or DoorDash is an excellent idea. Especially with the current health pandemic, people are eating in more (and getting more food delivered) than ever before. However, there are a few things you need to think about before you start driving delivery.
Here’s what you should consider before deciding if driving for Uber Eats or DoorDash is a good idea.
Car Wear and Tear

In general, the more you drive your vehicle, the more worn down it gets. City driving is one of the worst culprits for vehicle wear and tear due to the constant stopping and starting, as well as the low speeds. And since driving for delivery mostly involves city driving, it can really wreak havoc on your vehicle.
Car Maintenance
Driving delivery isn’t covered/reimbursed by most companies, including Uber Eats and DoorDash. So, all that extra driving in going to require you to upkeep your car more often. For instance, many vehicles’ manuals say that you should change oil every 3,000-5,000 miles. However, if you consistently drive less than 10 miles at a time, then that number is reduced down to 1,000 miles.
Health Risks
With the current health pandemic, coming into contact with other people poses a health risk. There are steps that can be taken (such as no-contact delivery), but those either don’t always work or aren’t always full proof. You can minimize risk, but you can’t entirely eliminate it.
