Honda Remote Start Key Fob Directions
For a Honda vehicle equipped with traditional remote start, there are a couple of steps you need to follow to get it to work. Luckily, it’s not complicated. But if you don’t know what the steps are, then you can’t use the feature you paid for. Note: This guide doesn’t show you how to use the HondaLink app or utilize the remote start feature from a smartphone.
Make sure the doors, trunk/hatch, and hood are all closed
Press the Lock button on your Honda vehicle key fob
Within 5 seconds of step 2, press and hold the Engine button on your Honda vehicle key fob
The engine will start and run for 10 minutes
Automatic climate control will turn on, the security system will remain primed, and all lights and accessory features will remain off
The runtime can be extended once for an additional 10 minutes by repeating steps 2 and 3
This increases the run time by ten minutes from the time you perform the steps; for example, doing so at 5 minutes left would make the engine run for a total of 15 minutes.
The engine will turn itself off after the time elapsed or if the door is opened without using the key fob (i.e. someone is trying to steal your vehicle). You can also manually shut off the vehicle by pressing and holding the engine button.
