Tires that are made today are often designed to be driven anywhere in between 50-60,000 miles before the tread will wear down too much. Many automobile manufactures also often recommend that tires are changed approximately every six years. However, some manufacturers also state that some tires can last up to 10 years.

Checking whether or not tires are in good enough condition to be safe on the roads is very simple. In order to check the level of tread on your tires, you just need to have a penny on hand. Take the penny between two fingers and place Abraham Lincoln’s head into one of the grooves of your tire. If any part of our 16th president’s head is covered by the tire tread, your tires are fine. If the tread isn’t deep enough to cover any part of Lincoln’s head, then it is recommended to get new tires for your car.
