  • 1967 – the Supra was originally introduced as the 2000GT. The success of this sportscar proved that Toyota was ready to enter the sports car segment.
  • 1971 – the Toyota Celica hit the market at just the right time and was another success for Toyota.
  • 1979 – the second-generation of the Toyota Celica Supra was released.
  • 1982 – the second-generation Toyota Supra was released. It was a sportier car and was beginning to distinguish itself apart from the Celica.
  • 1986 – the Celica and Supra were officially separated. The third-generation Supra featured many updates and was more luxurious than in previous years.
  • 1990s – the focus of the Supra was keeping the weight of the vehicle down to enhance its performance. This vehicle was modeled after the 2000GT.
  • 2002 – the Toyota Supra was discontinued
  • 2012 – rumblings began about a new Supra being produced again
  • 2019 – the 2020 Toyota Supra made its world debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The 2020 Toyota Supra has a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine. It produces 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, there is an 8-speed automatic transmission that offers paddle shifters to the driver. The sports car can accelerate from 0-60 in about 4.1 seconds.
