With winter coming to a close and spring officially on the horizon, it’s time to get out of the house and enjoy the nicer and warmer weather again. However, the warm weather isn’t just for us. It’s also the perfect time let your pets get out and stretch their legs. Since dogs love to run around and play in the sunshine, we wanted to highlight some of the best dog parks near Winchester, VA.

Winchester Dog Park

Location: 1001 E Cork St, Winchester, VA

Located right here in Winchester, the Winchester Dog Park is a great place for dogs to play. The park is located in Jim Barnett Park, and is divided into two separate areas: one for small dogs under 30 lbs and one for large dogs over 30 lbs. While larger dogs are not allowed in the small park area, smaller dogs may go into the larger park if the owner thinks it is safe.

Location: 850 Davis Ct SE, Leesburg, VA

The Olde Izaak Walton Dog Park in Leesburg is another off-leash dog park in the area open seven days a week. The fenced area is great for dogs to run around in, and there are benches and water available for pet owners. Leesburg is also considering expanding the park to provide a specific area for smaller dogs to play.

Hagerstown Dog Park

Location: 351 N Cleveland Ave, Hagerstown, MD

The Hagerstown Dog park in Fairgrounds Park that opened in 2013. The dog park is an off-leash park, and is open during the same hours as the Fairgrounds Park. Since the park opened, the community has hosted a Dog Parade. Owners dress up their dogs in costumes and judges select their favorites throughout multiple categories. Winners of the select categories earn prizes such as gift cards or gift baskets.
