Touch-less or Soft-touch?
When it comes down to it, touch-less is the better option. As water is the only thing that comes into contact with your vehicle, there is very little chance that your vehicle will suffer any damage. If your vehicle is already damaged (with significant chips, rust, etc.), then the high-pressure water used at touch-less washes could exacerbate the problem.
Why Touch-less?
A touchless car wash using pressurized water to do all the washing. That means the pre-wash, the wash, and the rinse are all done without any hard contact to your vehicle. The drying is also done with air jets. There are also DIY pressure-washing stations where you can remove built-up dirt and grime.
Why Not Soft-touch?
Soft-touch washes use multiple curtains of cloth or carpet attached to automated machines. Dirt tends to stick to these bits and pieces of fabric. Those machines operate at decent speeds, so even the softest fabric with the smallest chunks of dirt can do damage to your vehicle. Even if it doesn’t damage your vehicle, cloth tends to smear and leave marks.
