Top Fall Activities in Winchester VA

With Fall arriving in the greater Shenandoah valley every September, the great folks in Winchester start looking for fun activities while the weather’s crisp and the foliage is at its peak. The area offers many great opportunities to explore and stay outside longer, or at least until the temperatures drop. The team at CMA’s Honda of Winchester has compiled a list of things you mustn’t skip when visiting beautiful Winchester, Virginia.

Farmers Markets

We love supporting local small businesses, and you don’t get more local than Farmer’s Markets. They’re the popular more well-known markets like Marker-Miller, Virginia Farm Market, and West Oaks Farm Market. You can’t forget about the more unique smaller markets like Hill High Farm, the Homestead Farm at Fruit Hill Orchard, Richard’s Fruit Market, Rinker Orchards, Virginia Farm Market, and Shen Val Farm Market.

Pick Your Own Apples

Did you know that  Frederick County is apple country? Yep, Winchester is home to some of the country’s biggest orchards. Of course, nothing beats the cooler air, tractor rides, and Instagram-worthy phones. Some great pick-your-own operations are Marker-Miller, West Oaks, and Rinker Orchards. Or you can drive through the countryside, and you’re sure to see “pick-your-own” signs, not to mention you will be able to do a little leaf peeping.

Explore the Tuscarora Trail

The Tuscarora Trail is truly a hidden gem with its beautiful valley views. There is no better way to see the mountains than when they explode with reds, oranges, and yellow leaves. The Eagle Rock trail is about a 1.75-mile hike and offers magnificent views of the fall foliage. Tuscarora Trail also offers many mountain biking trails in the George Washington National Forest.

Enjoy Some Local Seasonally Beer or Cider

Take a trip down the  Shenandoah Spirits Trail and enjoy some fantastic breweries. The trial starts with the Alesation Brewing Company in Winchester, VA. Then you will head to the Broken Window Brewing Company, the Winchester Brew Works, Escutcheon Brewing Co., and Winchester Cider Works. All of these breweries offer great fall beers and ciders. The Shenandoah Spirits Trail pulls together every brewery, winery, cidery, and distillery in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Corn Mazes

Everyone thinks of the beautiful leaves every fall, but let’s not forget about the fun and challenging corn mazes. The few local farms create these massive mazes every year. Some of the CMA Family’s favorite ones are the traditional maze at the Pumpkin Patch at Hill High Farm, West Oaks Farm always does an annually themed maze, and Edge-Wood Dairy Farm hosts a scavenger hunt corn maze.
