4 Tips to Make Tires Last Longer

When it comes to car care, keeping your tires up to snuff is one of the easiest things you can do. Let us here at CrossPointe Motor Cars show you how.

Here are four ways you can make your tires last longer.

4 Tips to Make Your Tires Last Longer

  • Keep your tires properly inflated
  • Wash your tires
  • Get balancing/alignment done
  • Rotate tires regularly

Tire Inflation / Tire Pressure

Maintaining proper tire pressure is the biggest thing you can do to make sure your tires last longer. The recommended tire pressure is usually listed on the door jamb and in the owner’s manual. If your vehicle has a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), then it will alert you when the air pressure in your tires in either too low or too high.

Washing Tires

Washing your tires will do two things for you. First, it will remove anything that may damage your tires. Second, it will help you find any leaks or punctures. If you notice a lot of bubbling coming from a particular spot while washing your tires, you’ve found a leak.

Balancing / Alignment

Making sure your tires are balanced and properly aligned is big deal. Improper balance or alignment will cause excessive tire wear which will sabotage your tires’ longevity. These services can be done at just about any auto service center, like ours! Schedule an appointment here.

Tire Rotation

Your tires should be rotated every 3,500 to 5,000 miles. For older vehicles (early 2000s and before), that’s about how often you change your oil. For new vehicles, that’s about two tire rotations per oil change.
